US to Publish GDP Data on Blockchain for Transparency

Published: 27.08.2025

The U.S. Department of Commerce will begin issuing economic data, including gross domestic product (GDP) reports, on a blockchain platform. The move aims to enhance transparency, improve data distribution, and modernize government reporting.

The initiative is part of the administration’s broader strategy to embrace blockchain technology and distributed ledger systems. Officials suggest future releases could expand beyond GDP to cover key indicators such as inflation reports.

The transition to blockchain-based publication comes ahead of the second-quarter GDP report due this week. The latest forecast from the Federal Reserve Bank of Atlanta projects 2.2% growth for the third quarter, a slowdown from the previous quarter.
